Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) is a widely used basal medium that can be used to support the growth of many types of mammalian cells. Cells that have been successfully cultured in DMEM include primary cells such as primary fibroblasts, neurons, glial cells, HUVEC, and smooth muscle cells, as well as cell lines such as HeLa, 293, Cos-7, and PC-12. We offer a variety of different DMEM modified media suitable for a wide range of cell culture applications.
DMEM does not contain proteins, lipids, or growth factors. Therefore, DMEM requires nutritional supplementation, usually 10% fetal bovine serum, and DMEM uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (3.7 g/L), so a 5-10% CO2 environment is required to maintain physiological pH.
